Bedtime Books

November 17, 2008

There is just something special about those books that you snuggle up with, isn't there? Here are some of Declan's favorites over the years. A great list of books for bedtime!

Guess How Much I Love You
What's not to love? This simple book shows the give and take between a mom and baby rabbit - and that love is infinite.

Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones
This book follows all the creatures in the African safari as they settle in for the night. The illustrations are to die for, as are the gentle nudges towards bed.

Goodnight Moon
Every proper bedtime book list should have this book, right? Such a sweet story with gorgeous graphic illustrations.

Counting Kisses
I like the idea of using kisses to woo a little one to sleep. Although there were nights I would try anything. But this book is too adorable to pass up, even when they are *not* sleepy.

Goodnight Blue
If your house is anything like ours was, Blue was a fixture for a very long time. Heck, at 6, Declan *still* loves to watch Blue's Clues. So, it's not a surprise that using Blue's bedtime routine helped our little one get into *his* routine.

The Going-To-Bed Book
I was always a Boynton fan as a child, so it was no surprise when my son dug her as well. Her characters are so cute! And funny! And set just the right mood for relaxing before bed!

Goodnight Lulu
I great book to prompt conversation about "what ifs" if your child gets scared at night. Lulu is concerned about all the things that could happen after her mother leaves, and in the end is reassured and gets to sleep.
